SUMMARY:Workshop 2.2 – Hybrid Quantum Computing via QMware Cloud
DESCRIPTION:The state–of–the–art noisy intermediate–scale quantum devices\, although imperfect\, enable computational tasks that are manifestly beyond the capabilities of modern classical supercomputers. However\, present quantum computations are restricted to exploring specific simplified protocols\, whereas the implementation of full–scale quantum algorithms aimed at solving concrete large–scale problems arising in data analysis and numerical modeling remains a challenge. We establish cutting–edge quantum cloud QMware that consolidates high–performance classical computing\, hybrid quantum computing\, and machine learning. Leveraging the impressive power of the QMware hardware and software stack\, we show the ability to solvelarge–scale problems. We will present several state–of–the–art hybrid quantum/classical algorithms that are suitable for the NISQ era. First\, we demonstrate how to solve optimization problems like MAX–CUT based on a hybrid algorithm called Quantum Approximation Optimization Algorithm (QAOA).In a second demo we show a hybrid quantum/classical algorithm for solving one of the emergent pressing problems\, linear systems of equations\, that utilizes quantum phase estimation\, one of the exemplary core protocols for quantum computing. Demo part endswith a brief explanation / demo how Machine Learning can be leveraged by Hybrid Quantum algorithms.\n\nThe considered algorithms clearly indicate the advantages of hybrid quantum data processing.\n\nGoals of the Workshop\nConceptual understanding of hybrid quantum algorithms and their role in solving relevant practical\nproblems of today. \nSchedule of the Tutorial\n2:00-2:20 Introduction\n2:20-3:00 QMware cloud preview\, software stack and high-level architecture \nWorkshop 2.2 at EQTC2021\, Ireland\n3:00-3:30 Evolving a hybrid QAOA algorithm to solve optimization problems\n3:30-4:00 Demo of a linear equation solver\n4:00-4:30 Demo of a sample that integrates quantum circuits into classical ML algorithms\n4:30-5:00 Q&A \n\n \n\nSource: https://az659834.vo.msecnd.net/eventsairwesteuprod/production-abbey-public/2183ea889ce9476d941748697963600e

SUMMARY:Quantum Commercialisation Week
DESCRIPTION:Get involved in techUK’s Quantum Commercialisation Week!\n  \nCall for insights: On 25-29 October techUK will be hosting its Quantum Commercialisation Week. We are looking for companies to share their insight and expertise from building a quantum-ready economy to nurturing skills and talent. Learn about how to get involved below! \nWe are looking for member companies to submit 600 word insights for techUK’s Quantum Commercialisation Week\, covering one of the themes below. Please do reach out directly to get involved \nDuring this week we will be bringing you news\, views and insights from the technology sector on what Quantum Commercialisation will mean to the UK’s society and economy. We will be identifying\, exploring and debating how organizations can build prepare for quantum readiness; reviewing the role of the technology sector in driving this forward\, and discussing the larger implications on skills\, jobs\, security\, economy and society that Quantum will bring. \nWhether you are interested in contributing your industry expertise or want to discover more about the opportunities of Quantum Commercialisation\, learn more about techUK’s campaign below! \nMonday: Building the foundations: A vision for the UK’s Quantum Economy \nDay one of techUK’s Quantum Commercialisation week will define and clarify what the role of Quantum products\, services and technologies will be in developing the UK’s economy. We will start with getting the foundations right: What is quantum readiness; what research and development looks like in the UK\, and how do we get commercialisation right for the UK? \nTuesday: Quantum Skills \nLack of skills and talent around Quantum is a considerable barrier to the UK’s Quantum success. Over 30 UK universities have delivered 400 PhDs in Quantum\, but the exponential growth in demand of quantum skills as the UK edges closer to commercialisation means that the talent resource is barely covering demand. Day two of techUK’s Quantum Commercialisation Week will explore how Government\, industry and academia can  work together to create and nurture quantum talent in the UK \nWednesday: Quantum and Sustainability \nAs the UK positions itself for commercialisation of Quantum technologies\, and we look to how the tech sector can exploit and utilize Quantum\, we also need to create an engaged and informed discussion on how Quantum aligns with businesses’ sustainability strategies. \nQuantum can potentially support sustainability endeavors\, but is not without its own environmental challenges\, – and\, crucially\, a means to attribute carbon from quantum to products and services that use it\, must be agreed. This day will share expert insights to clarify and raise awareness on the potential sustainability opportunities and challenges of Quantum Commercialisation. \nThursday: Quantum and Emerging technologies: Developing the relationship with Cloud\, AI\, HPC and more \nThis day will explore the huge potential of Quantum computing when deployed alongside other key technologies such as HPC and AI. SUMMARY:IEEE SERVICES 2021 - PLENARY PANEL QSAS: QUANTUM SOFTWARE & SERVICES
DESCRIPTION:Quantum computing is a new and emergent computation parading\, and we need to understand how it is going to be used and impact in the current software and services. Furthermore\, it is necessary explore how connect quantum and conventional computation to take advantage in both sides. Understanding that one of the key components of this technology is the quantum hardware (Quantum Processing Units or QPUs)\, the software and algorithm need to cover from the core hardware to the final user. This software stack from one side need to help to new quantum developers to have better tools to handle and improve the quantum hardware\, also create new algorithms and models\, and finally how we are going to integrate all these pieces with the current conventional applications. In this journey we will need to discover use the powerful of this quantum computation and how the users can connect and develop new kind of software and services around of it. \nThis panel is going to help to understand the current state of the art in the Quantum field\, from the software near to the quantum hardware to services integrated on the cloud. SUMMARY:CIO INSIDE SUMMIT POWERED BY ÜBERALL SD
DESCRIPTION:CIO INSIDE SUMMIT Summer Edition 2021\nThe CIO Inside Summit is the IT congress of the future for strategists\, visionaries and key players from the Austrian IT scene on the topic of digital transformation. \nOn 14/15 June 2021\, the organiser ÜBERALL cordially invites the entire Austrian IT scene to a get-together at Schloss Laxenburg as part of the Summer Edition. \nThe castle offers a spacious castle garden for a carefree and safe get-together. With fresh air and pleasant temperatures\, \nÜBERALL would like to make the get-together possible for the IT sector and is looking forward to summer and the first rays of sunshine. \nA packed programme with presentations on the latest developments in the industry\, keynotes\, workshops and a drone race will define the two days of the congress. \nGeorg Gesek has contributed to this event by speaking on the 14th of June: \n14.06.2021 @ 10:10 – 10:30\nThe intelligence of quantum computers\nSince the 1960s\, a rough and simple rule has applied: every 18 months\, the so-called structure width of microchips should halve\, which on one level would be equivalent to a quadrupling of the integrated circuits\, and thus of the computing power of computers. \nHowever\, due to physical limits\, the integration density of ICs can no longer be increased arbitrarily today.\nNevertheless\, the next wave of innovation in information technology for large-scale computing systems is already on the horizon: memory-centric computer architectures with hybrid processors! \nOne new type of computing unit is currently attracting a lot of attention in this context: the quantum processor.\nThe lecture will give an overview of the state of the art of these quantum circuits\, and also explain the associated new software paradigm\, up to technological intelligence. \n  \nFor more information: https://www.cioinside.at/ \n

SUMMARY:QUANTUM SUMMIT POWERED BY BITKOM
DESCRIPTION:Quantum Technologies – Unleashing Disruptive Potential\nRarely have experts agreed so unanimously on something: \nQuantum technologies will become a real game changer\, promising a wide range of applications with unprecedented precision and performance. \nWhether it’s medicine\, logistics or cyber security\, whether it’s industrial applications or basic academic research – many of the upcoming developments are hard to foresee\, but it is clear that we are looking at an enormous disruptive potential for industry and society. \nBitkom’s Quantum Summit is your possibility to experience the newest developments in quantum technologies. \nConnect virtually on 26 and 27 May 2021 with major players from both the provider and the user side\, with researchers\, startups\, politicians and public administration\, as well as internationals guests. \nWe will provide an overview and an introduction to quantum technologies and show how today’s decisions – politically\, economically and technologically – are shaping the future in Europe and across the world. \nIn interactive sessions you will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge with quantum experts and decision makers and get to know some of the first applications of quantum technologies. \nYou will be able to learn about the most pressing questions\, such as technical challenges\, political regulation\, and interdisciplinary cooperation. \nThe field of possible applications for quantum solutions is vast – at the Quantum Summit you will learn which concrete solutions already exist\, how they are shaping the technology landscape as we know it and which role Europe will play in this. \nFor more information: https://www.quantum-summit.com/ \n  \nStage II on 26.05.2021 @ 16:30 – 16:50\nLarge-scale hybrid quantum computing solution of linear systems of equations\nThe state-of-the-art noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices\, although imperfect\, enable computational tasks that are manifestly beyond the capabilities of modern classical supercomputers. However\, present quantum computations are restricted to exploring specific simplified protocols\, whereas the implementation of full-scale quantum algorithms aimed at solving concrete large-scale problems arising in data analysis and numerical modeling remains a challenge. \nHere we realize a hybrid quantum/classical algorithm for solving one of the emergent pressing problems\, linear systems of equations\, that utilizes quantum phase estimation\, one of the exemplary core protocols for quantum computing. We introduce theoretically classes of linear systems that are suitable for current generation hybrid quantum machines andsolve experimentally a 130\,000-dimensional problem on superconducting IBMQ devices\, which is a record in a linear system solution on real quantum computers. \nAlso\, we establish the algorithm on the cutting-edge Quantum Cloud QMWare that consolidates high-performance classical computing\, hybrid quantum computing\, and machine learning. Leveraging the impressive power of the QMWare hardware and software stack\, we show the ability to solve much larger problems up to 2^{37} linear equations in a system. \nThe considered large-scale algorithm shows superiority over conventional solutions and demonstrates the advantages of hybrid quantum data processing. \n  \nMissed the event? SUMMARY:BrightTALK Webinar
DESCRIPTION:A brief history of Computers – Your Data Center in 2025. \nInnovations in computer hardware are driven by the application of knowledge from physics. Advances in understanding matter are leading to new technologies for our data centers. \nBut this is a nonlinear process. Breakthroughs have been triggered\, for example\, with the development of integrated circuits that advance understanding of the behavior of semiconductors at the microscopic level. \nNow we have come to know quantum physics as an information game. This means radical breakthroughs for our computer systems\, both hardware and software\, because information is physical! \nGenerally understood\, the fact of a classical bit manifested as an electric potential between atoms and electrons instead of electric currents provided us with non-volatile memory modules. \nMore recently\, our attention has turned to the change in information within microscopic circuits themselves\, which provide us with qubits\, or quantum bits. \nSince qubits represent pure information\, we can compute them in our way from the beginning\, not only in native quantum computers\, but also with a novel technology\, \nhybrid quantum computing. This talk introduced the audience to this new type of computer architecture and demonstrated initial implementations. \nBy 2025\, George Gesek predicts\, every high-performance computing center will run on nothing but hybrid quantum computers.

SUMMARY:Salon #11 QUANTUM COMPUTING
DESCRIPTION:On November 28\, 2019\, SingularityU Vienna Chapter invited you to take a closer look at arguably one of the most enigmatic technologies\, Quantum Computing\, with a multidisciplinary roundup of speakers from academia\, art\, and industry. \nThe location was Talent Garden Vienna’s event space for “Explorers and Innovators.” \nAfter Google recently announced its “Quantum Supremacy”\, a hype seems to break out in the field of Quantum Computing. Quantum Supremacy means that a quantum computer achieves a computing power that exceeds that which could ever be achieved with any kind of classical computer. Google talks about solving a theoretical computational problem 1.5 trillion times faster with its “Sycamore” than with any supercomputer. \nWhether this means that quantum computing is actually suitable for useful problem solutions\, apart from theoretical tests\, remains to be proven. \nSo far\, quantum computers of today’s generation are error-prone and achieve performances in the range of ten times Qbits. To create an error-free “general purpose” quantum computer\, thousands if not millions of times Qbit performance would have to be achieved. Perhaps\, however\, less perfect intermediate levels already have relevance for certain fields of application. \nGoogle\, IBM and Intel have been investing significant sums in this technology for years. In 2017 and 2018\, more than $450 million was also pumped into the field\, primarily in VC funds. \nHow can quantum computing be made tangible or even physically and visually experienced? What are the hopes of the industry? What can be expected from “Cambridge Quantum Computing”\, which was featured this year at Singularity University’s Global Summit? \nThe salon was held in German and English. \nWelcome: \nDennis Pregesbauer\, Community Manager of the SingularityU Vienna Chapter. \nModeration: \nMartin Bodocky\, General Partner Nation1\, CEO Mint AI \n  \nSpeaker: \nProf. Rupert URSIN – Senior Group Leader IQOQI\, Austrian Academy of Sciences \nRobert Kastner – Head of Candeed Cue\, participant of Ars Electronica 2019 \nGeorg Gesek – CEO Novarion Systems \n  \nPresentation of the QC Simulator – Georg Gesek \n  \n\nhttps://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6606097432436584448/\nhttps://www.leadersnet.at/foto-galerie/photo/991017/16263\,quantum-computing.html

SUMMARY:Together CCA Innovation Day 2019
DESCRIPTION:We have become accustomed to machines being stronger\, faster\, more physically capable than any human. But this does not make us doubt our self-image: \nHumans are unique in their thinking\, their comprehension\, their intelligence. – Or is he not? \nWe are currently facing the greatest crisis of human self-image in its history: \nTechnology\, created by man\, which thinks better than he does. \nWhat exactly is thinking\, intelligence and consciousness? Can we build machines that are more intelligent than any human? – And if so\, how and when? What does this mean for us humans? \nThese exciting questions were highlighted in this keynote against the backdrop of the latest scientific findings. \nGeorg Gesek on the topic of “Quantum Computers and Artificial Intelligence”. \nhttps://www.togethercca.com/innovation-day-2019

SUMMARY:ThreeFold Meets Vienna
DESCRIPTION:The demand for Internet capacity is growing rapidly\, both in the number of users worldwide and in the variety of connected devices. The current architecture of hyperscale data centers is unable to meet this demand due to the need for power and funding. \nThe Foundation believes that the solution to this trillion-dollar problem lies in migrating Internet infrastructure capacity to the “edge\,” near where Internet users are located. Today’s infrastructure is highly centralized: Only a few large companies in the world own more than 80% of the Internet capacity\, leading to inequities in distribution. \nOver the last few decades\, we have developed technology that allows IT (information technology) to behave like a true utility\, consuming up to ten times less energy and healing itself 100% without the involvement of IT specialists. \nThreeFold aims to provide IT capacity in this new paradigm locally to users and on demand\, managed by smaller clusters and nodes\, and funded by all of us through a new digital currency. \nThe Quantum Grid as the future of ThreeFold – Georg Gesek \n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/411146986020665/\nhttps://threefold.io/
